=========================================================== Intel Adapter Firmware Release Notes for Version 19.5.12 =========================================================== The Dell Update Package for Intel Adapter Firmware (FW-DUP) must be used to update Option ROM and EEPROM to version 19.5.12. NOTE: On systems running Linux, the base driver must be loaded for the Dell FW DUP to function correctly. NOTE: On Windows, the devices must not be disabled in Device Manager for the firmware DUP to update them. NOTE: On ESXi OS, "Intel NIC Family Version 19.5.0 ESXi Firmware Update Package" should be used. NOTE: FW updates require update to the corresponding family version of the drivers, and vice versa. NOTE: FW downgrade to 18.5.17 or older versions on Intel(R) X550 devices is not supported. NOTE: Downgrading Intel adapter firmware to versions prior to 18.0.0 via Lifecycle Controller or iDRAC is not supported on iDRAC9 and iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller v3.00.00.00 and newer. Note: The Family Driver Version reported by Dell iDRAC will appear as "Unavailable" on Intel(R) I350, X520, and X540 based network adapters with the ESXi and Linux operating systems. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Do one of the following procedures to update the firmware on Intel network adapters: - Option A: OS Method 1. Run FW DUP 19.5.12 on the supported OS (Windows or Linux) 2. Reboot the system as instructed by the DUP - Option B: Lifecycle Controller Method 1. Upgrade the Lifecycle Controller firmware to version 2.15.15.15 or newer and reboot 2. Upgrade the Intel network adapters to 19.5.11 via Lifecycle Controller Note: If upgrading the Intel network adapter firmware from version 14.5.x, an AC power cycle is required after upgrading to 19.5.12. Note: If there is an attempt to upgrade the Intel network adapter firmware version to 19.5.12 via Lifecycle Controller Firmware older than 2.15.15.15, the firmware upgrade attempt may fail. ============================ AC Power Cycle Requirements ============================ When updating the firmware from 14.5.x or older, an AC power cycle is required. When updating the firmware from 15.0.x or later, an AC power cycle is not required. For the following adapters based on the Intel(R) Ethernet Controller X520, upgrading the firmware from 18.5.17 may cause link issues with optics modules or active optical cables. An AC power cycle is required to resolve the link issues. - Intel(R) 10GBE 2P X520 LOM - Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X520/I350 rNDC - Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X520 Adapter Exceptions: - Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X540/I350 rNDC with PBA number G14843-xxx or G59298-xxx requires an AC power cycle after firmware update from 15.5.x or older ---------------------------------------------------------- * To perform an AC power cycle, you must do the following: ---------------------------------------------------------- 1. Shut down the system if it is powered up 2. Unplug all AC power cords from the system 3. Leave the AC power cords unplugged for 15 seconds to drain power from the system 4. Plug in AC power cords to the system ====================== Software Compatibility ====================== This release of firmware supports the following Network Adapters: Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X520 Adapter Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X520-k bNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X540-t Adapter Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X520/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X540/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G X520 LOM Intel(R) Ethernet X520 10GbE Dual Port KX4-KR Mezz Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350 LOM Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350-t Adapter Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350-t LOM Intel(R) Gigabit I350-t LOM Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t Adapter Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350 bNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t Mezz Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t rNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t OCP Intel(R) Gigabit 4P X520/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P X540/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P X550/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X550-t Adapter Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X550/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X550 rNDC =========================================== Release Version Information for Adapters =========================================== Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350 LOM Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350-t Adapter Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350-t LOM Intel(R) Gigabit I350-t LOM Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t Adapter Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350 bNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t Mezz Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t rNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P X520/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P X540/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P X550/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t OCP -------------------------------------------- Intel Boot Agent 1.5.88 EFI Driver 9.0.03 Intel(R) Ethernet X520 10GbE Dual Port KX4-KR Mezz Intel(R) Ethernet 10G X520 LOM Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X520-k bNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X520 Adapter Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X520/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X540-t Adapter Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X540/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X550-t Adapter Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X550/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X550 rNDC -------------------------------------------------- Intel Boot Agent 2.4.34 EFI Driver 7.4.06 Release Version Information Common ================================== iSCSI Boot ROM 3.1.58 CLP Loader Option ROM 3.1.16 40G interface 1.0.79 ================================================== Changes From Previous FW DUP Release ================================================== Previous release: 19.0.12 Current release: 19.5.12 =================== Option ROM Changes =================== EFI Driver Previous version: 1G v8.7.14 , 10G v7.2.12 Current release: 1G v9.0.03 , 10G v7.4.06 Intel Boot Agent Previous version: 1G v1.5.88 , 10G v2.4.34 Current release: 1G v1.5.88 , 10G v2.4.34 iSCSI Boot Previous version: v3.1.57 Current release: v3.1.58 CLP Loader Option ROM Previous version: v3.1.14 Current release: v3.1.16 40G interface Previous version: v1.0.78 Current release: v1.0.79 Fixes ===== - Resolved an issue that may show link as up in the iDRAC GUI after the cable is disconnected from the port of a network daughter card (NDC) based on the Intel(R) Ethernet I350 controller.
